About

Hi, I'm Owen.
A greenkeeper who looks after gardens.

Seven years on a top Suffolk golf course taught me how grass actually works. Now I look after gardens in Stowmarket and Needham Market at a fair price.

№ 01 · The Story

From the 18th green to the front garden.

I fell into greenkeeping the way most people do. It was a summer job that stuck. I was sixteen, the local course needed a hand on the rakes, and within a month I'd worked out this was what I wanted to do. Seven years on, I'm still there as my day job. Level 3 qualified, on the team that looks after the greens, tees and fairways through every season.

What started this side of things was a conversation with my nan. She was getting on a bit, the mower was too heavy, the garden was going to seed, and the local options were either too expensive or too rough-and-ready. She said, half-joking, "Why don't you do it?" After thinking about it for a week, I did.

Word travelled. A few neighbours asked, then a couple of new build owners on the estate down the road, then friends of friends. Now I look after a steady round of lawns across Stowmarket and Needham Market, evenings, weekends and the occasional weekday off. I love it. Same craft, smaller scale, much more tea offered.

"The same grass that makes a green roll true makes a back garden somewhere you actually want to sit."

What you get from me is what you'd get from a course team: the right cutting height for the time of year, the right feed at the right moment, and a pair of eyes that'll spot a problem six weeks before you would. Just at a price that suits a back garden, not a clubhouse.

№ 02 · The Path

Seven years getting it right.

The short version of how I got from raking bunkers to running this.

2017
Started at the local course

Sixteen years old, summer holiday, raking bunkers and watering greens. Hooked.

2019
Greenkeeping apprenticeship

Formal training started. Mornings on the course, evenings in college.

2021
Level 3 Diploma

Sports Turf Greenkeeping & Management. Top of the cohort, if you'll allow me a moment.

2023
Promoted to senior team

Now part of the small crew that handles the greens themselves. The most important turf on the course.

2024
A Cut Above The Rest

Launched the lawn-care side, starting with neighbours around Stowmarket & Needham Market.

№ 03 · How I work

Four things you can hold me to.

Treat every lawn like it matters

Because to you it does. I don't use the same mowing height for every lawn. I look at what your grass actually needs that week.

Show up when I say I will

If I'm running late you'll hear from me first. No missed visits, no vague "later this week".

Tell you straight

If something can wait a fortnight, I'll say so. If it needs sorting now, I'll say that too. Never sold a treatment that wasn't needed.

Keep the price fair

I'm a one-person business with low overheads. That's a saving I pass on, not pocket.

№ 04 · The kit

Same kit I'd trust on the course.

All my own equipment. Petrol mower, edger, scarifier, aerator, the lot. Maintained properly, cleaned between visits so I'm not carrying disease from one garden to the next, and serviced every spring. Everything fits in the van. I bring it all, including a tarp for clippings.

Ready when you are

Let's get your lawn looking sharp.

A quick chat, a free look at your garden and a price with no strings. I'll come back the same day.
